What's the old addage? "It's not a matter of if you can get away with it" "but a matter of how long you can get away with it"

Question:
I can't seem to get this boost figured out. Current mods in sig + adj boost elbow screwed all the way in, which should block the waste gate from opening, correct? But according to my gauge, the boost hardly ever reaches 20psi. Is there something wrong here as I would like to max boost out @ 35psi by adj the elbow. Or is it that only when towing or under load, I may see max 35psi?thanks.

high bid, you need to ask your question in the 24 valve forum for better response.

Hey, I appreciate everyones input on this topic. Correct me if I,m wrong, but if I understand this correctly you have a better chance of blowing the stock head gasket with stock studs if I have the timing advance @ 16* vs the stock timing. Thanks

Advancing the timing increases the cylinder pressure. So yes.

I think.

Yes, but 16° is well below the danger zone if you keep your boost under 35psi.

My timing is at 16.5 would you consider boost under 35 to be safe for a stock head gasket there as well?

Running empty with my foot to the floor, I've never seen the boost above 30. I do tow a 10,000lb RV for long distances though if that makes any difference.

long as your not siting there holding it at over 35 psi while your towing you'll probably be ok.

If you do get to 35 pounds of sustained boost w/16* timing, how long would be too long as far as sustaining that amount of boost? Thanks
