Battery replacement
Battery replacement
Going to need to replace my truck batteries soon. Thinking about the Wal Mart brand and wondered if anyone has experience with their battery. They look to be about $60 each and have a 5 year warranty.
Also does it matter in what order you remove and replace the old batteries?

Re:Battery replacement
The best bang in batteries is the Optima gel cells. Try to find a dealer that sells blems, and pick up a pair for about what you are willing to pay for two of WalMart's batteries. One Optima will start your diesel in the coldest weather, so two is insurance.

What he said, been running one optima for over a year, flawless and no more acid on the fenders.

Re:Battery replacement
Know it doesn't matter in which order you replace the batteries. I like the OPTIMA batteries, I have them in my truck and trailer, work great and I like the fact that there is no water to check or worry about. They stay like new with no courossion on the terminals, wires, or any thing else. PRO COMP has a simular battery called the HDX, they are both about the same price, $119. for the red top. If thats not for you, I think I'd try and get the best battery you can afford, I know buying two makes it tough, but batteries a something you are suppose to buy and not worry about, that peice of mind might be worth the extra expense?
Re:Battery replacement
Optimas with blemishes are a little cheaper, if you can find a dealer of them. I'd definitely go with them. You get what you pay for. Like Y-Knot said, peace of mind is worth a ton.

NAPA has gel cells that are just relabeled Optimas - cost $5/each more than Optimas from local AutoZone but they have an 84 month warranty versus whatever Optima has (not sure).
Local place said they can't keep the blue Marine Optima's in stock - sell faster than they can get them in.
My 84 month NAPA Exide Select batteries just crashed on me at 54 months - got about $25/each allowance on them so it helped a little.
Locally Optimas red tops are $119 - NAPA gels were $125.

Mine up and bought the farm today, it was an AutoZone that was in it when I bought the truck, didn't look that old. Since I was stuck at our shop and no wheels, except for the fork truck
, had to call momma and ask her to get me a battery so I could come home :-[. She picked up an AC Delco for $65.00, It was actually taller and wider than the el-cheapo, and el-cheapo was rated at 1000 cranking amps, and only 750 cold cranking amps. Didn't look at the delco, just put it in, fired it up and turned on A/C. I've heard alot of good things about the optima batterys, I really need to put one in the jeep for hill climbing.

Re:Battery replacement
After reading the posts decideded against the Wally world brand. Went to the local Costco and bought one optima red top ($99) and one Kirkland (Costco) brand battery. Both are rated for my 2500 in the chart provided by Costco and have similar CCA ratings. Optima is a 72 month warranty the other is 100 months.
They seem to work fine together.

Re:Battery replacement
I have had the Wal-Mart batteries in for about a year and no problems ;D Everstart batteries are made by Johnson Controll, Same company that makes a lot of batteries. Die Hard, Auto Zone, I even think they make Optima batteries. I resercheed it and found out a lot of usefull information.
Re:Battery replacement
Johnson control does own Optima Batteries and Interstate, they do make alot of other batteries such as the higher end Diehards for Sears, I was told by the rep though that they are all made to different spec's though, each company they build batteries for states how they are made, so they really aren't the same battery
