Banks power system?

I am looking to purchase this system http://www.bankspower.com/products/show/138/31
with the monster 4" exhaust in place of the 3.5
I would like to know if anyone has installed one of these. I am kinda green at working on this truck.(truck in signature 98') The fuel pump cam looks to be maybe the hardest part. I also would like to know if I will need an upgrade to the fuel line, or lift pump. The man at banks told me the intercooler was rated for this system, so no need to upgrade. I also have an AFE intake installed, so no need for air filter replacement. Any info would be greatly appreciated. (need more power) got passed by a ford powerstroke. Not supposed to happen!!!!

It's not a bad kit and the twin ram is an expensive piece in itself, but you can probably do the same thing for a lot cheaper. How much does that kit cost? You don't need to upgrade your fuel system. You're tranny is going to be your weak link and the stock torque converter doesn't get the power to the wheels efficiently.

2880 includes shipping. They changed out the 3.5"ex, for the monster 4". I am looking at the stage 10 tranny with the banks torque conv. I am also doing a detroit locker. But this mod is first. I need to get some power.

You can get the same amount of power for WAY LESS.

Get a 4" system off of ebay, get a BHAF, a #10 plate and boost elbow off of ebay and some gauges from Larry Ellis (DTR Store)

$600 MAX.

what is a bhaf? How much h.p. is the #10 plate rated for? Where do I obtain these parts. I like the dual ram intake. I also get the turbo housing with this kit. As well as wastegate upgrade. For the kind of power I want, I do not want to be picky with price. I like this kit because it is a decent upgrade and I dont have to chase parts. The tranny work is next. If I can put this together cheper I would love too.

Ok, that's more than I expected.

The thing is, you don't need the twin ram or the turbo housing. They're more for looks. The twin ram does help even out the egt's between all the cylinders but it's a very small difference and as far as actual horsepower, it won't gain you any. The wastegate can be acheived with a boost elbow to limit the amount of air to the stock wastegate. Same thing. The main thing that gets you more power in their kit is the fuel plate, which you can buy off ebay for $30 nowadays or from www.tstproducts.com. You can find horsepower ratings for fuel plates on their website. A #10 is stock tranny, and egt friendly. Noticeable amount of power increase. You can go all the way down to a #0 plate and just let your foot determine when to back off.

So the things you need are:

1) EGT and boost gauge
2) Fuel plate
3) 3k governor spring kit
4) 4" exhaust
5) BHAF (Big honkin air filter) but you already have an AFE

the thing is, I purchased the truck with what he told me was an upgraded fuel cam. Is this the fuel plate that you speak of? My truck revs to around 3200 now, so I would assume they did that as well. I have the 7100 pump.

The Banks system is a waste of money.

You don't need anything in the kit.

The Twin Ram is useless for you right now, the turbo housing is useless at any level. The rest of the parts are WAY overpriced.

The cam plate is the fuel plate - you would have to remove the plate to see what # profile is on it.

And does your truck fuel all the way to 3,200 RPM?

Get the tranny work done and then add some DDP 90 H.P. sticks along with a S400 turbo.

In short, don't waste $3,000 on useless parts.

I am starting to learn more now. But they claim a few more pounds of boost with the housing uprade. I checked the website, and I cant find the plate for my truck. I would like to get a #4 or #5 plate. I am really looking for a serious increase in power. My truck is fast now, but not what I want. I have stock exhaust Which I understand is chocking down some horses. How do I find out what plate is in my truck now? will it have a stamping on it? If he already put a decent plate in, is this all I am gonna get without doing a turbo upgrade?

Here's the fuel plates:

http://www.tstproducts.com/94-98dodg...thvideo-1.aspx

Also,

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Dodge...spagenameZWDVW

You can probably ask him to grind you a #5.

The main idea behind the turbo housing upgrade is to keep egt's cooler, I don't really see how it'll add boost. Even if it did, will more boost make more power? No... There's already an excess of air going into your engine, what gives you the extra power is added fuel. Gassers need to have a consistent air/fuel ratio to keep the fuel from pre-detonating, but diesel detonation is all fuel-injection controlled, so you can have all the air you want.

After you get the tranny fixed (billet converter, shafts, etc) and bump up the timing, throw some DDP, F1, or New Era injectors on there. Then to keep things from melting under heavy foot, you'll need a bigger turbo or twins. To really use the turbo and keep your headgasket from blowing, you'll need to o-ring and stud the head. Then to keep keep your rear axle from wrapping, you might want to look into getting some ladder bars. You should be pretty fast at that point.

yeah, my truck fuels up to a little over 3200. I was able to beat out a Z71 when I purchased the truck. I am becoming aware of newer trucks with tuners. I was beat by one off the line the other day. I dont mind this, but I think it would be fun to give them a run for their money. I thought my tranny was slipping or torque conv. problems. But the transmission shop I go to told me I was being too sensitive to little things with my truck, and it shifted great. Essentially I want this truck to screw. What plate would you run on your truck if you were me. I have another truck I tow with. this one is just for fun. Where do I find this turbo? And where do I find these 90 hp injectors? Is it better to find a decent used one? Alot of questions. I can pm you if this would be easier. I am learning.

I looked at that kit, it only show for a 94-95 auto or a 98 with manual tranny. Does it really matter what tranny I have? or is this just a guarantee guidline? Are the plates the same for every cummins, as far as interchangability goes? If I call and tell them what I am looking for will they be able to make what I need? I dont think I want ladder bar fast.

Is it also possible to adjust my fuel plate by moving it? I am reading about sliding it forward or back to increase gains. I will check the plate soon. Would a #0 plate be ridiculous?

The plates are the same for any year, but different years will give you more power for the same plate. For example, a 1995 Dodge with a #10 plate might add 30 or so hp, but a 97 manual Dodge will give almost 100 hp increase with the same plate. That's due to the injection pump differences. Same pump (P7100) but different internals. You can slide the plate forward all the way for some more power, 30-40 hp. You can also slide the whole afc housing forward for a little more hp. I've never ran a #0 but from what I hear it can get really hot. Better watch the pyro or you'll melt a piston.
