Take a number 10 socket and turn it counter clockwise to loosen it up then you can have it point where ever you want to grease it then tighten it back up.

Running4bhs , That won't work ,the grease nipple point straight down at the U joint , and there might be about 3/4" of space in there.

What you need to grease that is a right angle adapter. Napa should have it.

I rotate my wheel until the "hole" in the u-joint is facing up, giving me enough room to sneak my 90* adapter up onto the zerk. Kinda of a pain, but it works for me!!

ball joint replacement

I have a 2wd and replaced the Uppers, then lowers. I used MOOG ball joints. I removed upper arms and took them to machine shop to have them pressed in. Went home and installed upper arms, then removed lowers and took to shop. seemed to go well, then got it aligned. 5000 plus miles and no problems.

I suggest doing uppers and lowers since you have it apart, if one is going , the others are probably not far behind.
