Axle shafts

Where do yall get new ones when ya break one? I'm havin a hard time finding one anywhere but the dealer and the price is outragous even with a discount. Any east coasters know of a place to get them?

BTW, it's for the dana 70 in my 96

Thanks,
Jeff

when you break one you are better off calling up Yukon, supperior axle, Dutchman and ordering a set for your truck.

They make alloy replacements for $300 or $350 for the pair then you are garenteed to have something a little stronger for the next time you hammer on it.

I suggest supperior axle us made quality alloy metals. Yukon is a slightly lower grade and Dutchman i have hear orders thier through supperior then charges a hair more. take a tape and hook it to the inside of the side gear and measure to the flange then call them with the specs. remember to tell them its a full floater and i believe iwh it being D70 it should be 32 spline for you.

i think it is a 35 spline on the 70 and the 70/80 hybrid rear. the 80s have a 37 spline rear. but i would suggest you pull yours out and count it very carfully. and try www.car-parts.com. for used one from thr junk yards. mike

You're right probably, ishouldnt have stated the spline count with such confidence, cause i always say 35spline to people when im preaching about the power lok lsd carrier but for some reason i came across this post here on dtr a few weeks ago i think it listed a 1999 dodge or 2001 but its not the first time ive seen 32 spline listed as the axle spline count

Make DODGE
Model W2500
Number of axle splines: 32 FULL

DANA 70U REAR AXLE - 32 SPLINE

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(STANDARD-pinion) REAR
Number of cover bolts: 10
Number of axle splines: 32
Diameter of ring gear: 10.5"
Number of ring gear bolts: 12
Pinion Shaft Diameter: 1.75"
Pinion Splines : 29
Low Case Ratio : 4.56

if you want an axle that you'll never break look at the ones from haisley and enterprise. if they can't break them then no one can, but they are expensive
