another question

I'm a new member, so sorry about all the questions but...i have a significant amount of oil on top of the head, around the valve covers. do those gaskets leak normally? often?

p.s. there's 225,xxx miles on the truck

thanks

At 225K it is likely that they could leak. I just did mine today because I had the valve covers off already so I figure it wouldn't hurt to change them. Felpro from Autzone, about $30 for all 6 with the o-rings. Cummins is a little more but I hear Felpro is better.

Most cases yes, but not necessarily in this one... If you do go with Cummins, don't get the grey ones if that's what they have.

Seeing as how I just bought some Cummins ones and they are grey I'm curious what's wrong with them

I've just heard they "suck." Who knows... I'm sure you'll be fine, maybe just won't last as long.

The grey ones from Cummins get hard, leak and aren't usually reusable.\
Felpro from Napa works for me.
