accumulator piston spring
accumulator piston spring
What would the tranny gods say if you happened to accidentaly leave the spring out when putting the accumulator piston back in the tranny? Ill effects? Damage? Improper operation? Thanks.

Oh my goodness: the sky is falling. The tranny gonna kiss its gonads.
No it won't.
This used to be a old performance trick. It will now cause some harsh shifting. My favorite for this item is reduce travel slightly. I find a couple washers of right size and place on top of accum, so it reduces total travel, but still moves. Leave the spring in. Hold the accumulator in during vb install by using feeler gauge stuck into spring and pan bolt holding feeler gause in place till get screws in VB.

Well it definately shifts hard. I will probably put that spring back in when I do the next fluid change. Do I have to yank the VB completely or can I just unbolt and swing it out of the way some?
