its 3 wires just behind where the shift linkage hooks up to the tranny.

i havent had easy since i had a 79 buick riviera! the neutral saftey switch tested good many times in all gears. continuity in park and neutral and not in reverse drive 2nd and 1st. am i looking at getting a new ignition switch?

update: tested the relays, they are good. i'm not getting any power to the starter relay in the fuse block under the hood. should have power to the 30 cavity at all times. this ought to be fun! or not... so anyone know how to get to the underside of the power distribution box (the fuse block under the hood) where all the wires are?

update2: i used a jumper wire from the battery to the 30 cavity for the starter relay. it worked! it also took care of the ABS and airbaglight. and my windows worked again! anyone know where i can find a wiring diagram for inside the power distribution ceanter? again thanks so much for everyones help!! the problem has been identified, now just need to find the right solution! a jumper wire cannot be a permanant solution, i'm afraid that it will cause more problems down the road.

i check all fuses for continuity with a multimeter and they were good. which fuse is no. 2? i'm not getting any power to the number 30 socket for the starter relay in the PDC . i also tested the relay and its good. the wire from the 30 is pink w/ black tracer and runs into JC 2. there are 15 wires that run into JC2 as well as 3-4 other pink w/ black tracer wires so thats where i'm lost. if i run a wire from the battery to the 30 it will start with the key. i would like to fix the problem not just bypass it.

Fuses can fool you sometimes they will check good but will not carry any current flow. Best to try a new fuse first.

which fuse is it? the diagram says number two but they arent numbered in the PDC, and i cant tell from the label. they all tested good with a multimeter. there are quite a few 30A fuses under there. Thanks

There should be a small brown wire at the starter that triggers the shutdown solenoid relay to lift the the solenoid.

the relay comes up as soon as i turn the key. that was the sound i was hearing, i originally thought it was the starter trying to engage.
