i need some input on what to look for on a 98' 12v quad cab short bed 4x4 auto. Its a 2500 with 170k. They will go as low as $9500 for it.

I always like to look under the doors for rust starting to form.

Any specifics answers you are looking for like drive train, power train, or just anything in general?

 

Automatic? Look for Tranny/Converter probems. Make sure the converters locking in when it should. Rebuilding is not cheap, plus if your going to replace the converter you might as well up-grade and that just adds to the price. But then again its well worth it.

 

Cracked dash. Auto issues as others have said. Find out about the KDP and look to see if its a 53 block.
