I have a chance to get a parts truck 97 2500 4x4 that has a 5.9 V8 gasser in it I am wondering if the auto trans would work in my 97 2500 4x4 cummins? even just to get me by for now?

 

i dont think the bell housing pattern is same as diesel pattern

 

Nope, not even the same tranny, gasser was 46RE if I remember right.

 

V-10 gassers have the same 47rh tranny. The 5.9 V-8's have a different smaller tranny.

 

ok kinda thought that wasn't my answer.. probably going to sell it as is with dead tranny and get something else don't have the time or the money... thanks for your help

 

The truck with the trans bad the Cummins or the Gasser?

 

my cummins has the bad trans... if it was the gasser I wouldn't think twice and get rid of it... just found out the trans was a reman put in march 0f 2005 guess it was a Jenkins remanufactured, didn't last long behind the cummins.
checked the fluid today and it is way full on the dipstick and silver metallic... must be pretty ground up inside there
