my friend is looking to get a 97 12valve what should i look for?? what are the major problems?? its a auto with 300km on it....any advice would help...thanks in advance

Inspect the timing case thoroughly, look for cracks, trace back any oil leaks and look for excessive silicone that maybe patching any damage caused by the KDP. The rubber fuel return lines are known to dry rot and leak but it's not real hard or expensive to fix. The front end tends to wear out around 100k or so, ask when the last time it had new ball joints, trac bar, etc. KDP (killer dowel pin) would be a primary concern though.
