95 transmission hot line port.

I have a new Diprocal temp gauge with 1/8NPT thermocouple. The port on the line is 3/8, I have a NPT reducer I can use but it does not look like I will have enough probe sticking out into the oil stream in the line. Anybody know how much of the probe should protrude out of the reducer into oil stream? Looks like I will get about 1/4 or so past the reducer end. Has anybody done this with a standard NPT bushing reducer? Can't find a flush reducer locally to eliminate the nut flats on a standard reducer.

I just installed my Trans temp gauge, and it is an autometer, and came with a 3/8ths inch adapter. My probe also also just barely sticks out past the adapter, but it works fine, so just stick it in there, and you should be ok. Mine reads fine. Good luck

the less it protrudes the better actually. This is one line you do not want to restrict at all. As long as it is not recessed too far, the temp will read fine. Flush is perfect.

All is OK. It protrudes about 1/8 and works fine. Thanks.

The end of my DiPricol sender was below flush with the end of the 3/8" threaded bushing and almost the same od/id hence no room for circulating any hot oil around the sender except on the very end.
I just reamed out the end of the brass bushing to add some oil clearance and tapped the 1/8"NTP female thds a little deeper to make it stick into the boss a little more. A slight smear of oil resistant Permatex thread sealer and Voila!

BTW: The 3/8"NPT female hex boss has PLENTY of depth to prevent restricting any oil flow.

Strange. I got the bushing that I needed from Home Depot and I guess it was tapped a little deeper. It protruded a little and I put it all together with Permatex copper anti seize, works well.

Hey guys, I have been searching on here and really didnt find anything that is what I need. I also just bought the tranny temp gauge from genos for my wifes 12 valve. Where is the best place to mount it? I have read that it should go in either the port or get a new line and place it there. Her truck is a 98 if that helps. Do you have any instructions or know of any links with pics? I only saw a couple of posts and they say to buy a line with a port already in it. Thanks

Lot of people have just gone to the *********** and bought the line for a 94 or 95 and just replace the hot line, transmission to cooler. I know there is a couple of places to get the line. It bolts in and gives you a 3/8 port for the probe. Put a reducer in for 1/8 and wire it up to gauge. I put mine on hump bolted with a ring mount to the airbag test unit cover, don't know if yours has the same layout.

I looked at your post and am confused as hell. Looks like I could by the hot line from dodge if I have to. Retired Navy, right on. I am in the army and just got back from the desert a week ago. In hawaii now. Where are these places to get the line? I want to put it in when I get home. Thanks

The dealer has them, don't know how much there. It is a bolt in replacement. Get the bushing at any decent hardware shop, got mine at home depot. It's a 3/8 to 1/8 NPT bushing. Put it together with antiseize and bolt it into line. Don't forget to wrench both sides on install to prevent screwing up the line. I got edited for my opinions of most dealers, should have edited it myself. I know people have purchased the same line from other parts houses but can't remember who.

These guys also have the line in stock.

Carl, thanks for all of your help. So what you are saying is get a T-fitting and put that in-line. Then hook up your temp gauge to the T-fitting. If that sounds right, I will try that as soon as I get the gauge in, and get back home.

As Infidel said get the 94/95 stock line. Has the mount allready in it, no need for cutting line or T fittings. All you need once line is installed is a bushing to reduce size of port from 3/8 to 1/8 NPT. Probe will mount right in then. The bushing is not a T, it is a reducer so you end up with the right thread size, 1/8NPT. I'm glad Infidel had the part no for the line, I could not recall it.
