'94 CTD Won't go into "OVerdrive"

'94 CTD Won't go into "OVerdrive"

..Had it parked most of the winter..205,000 miles on. worked fine a month ago ..I checked the TPS it was 5.3 volts at what would be Idle..at WOT it was 4.9 volts..it would not go less than the 4.9volts.. book calles for .5 to 3.5 varrance..any suggestions what to check next..new TPS?? ( changed trans fluid and filter, with bands adjusted last fall).I did a search first and found some info..but could use some help now..thanks in advance..

..Replaced the "Notorious " failed TPS senser, and works like a new truck again....

Bought a new oem one from the dodge dealer for $179.00..retails for $224.00..Now on to the water leak...lol

first thing u do is adjust ur brake pedal swicth...its free and takes 5 seconds...get under ur brake pedal...there's a **** that touches the brake pedal at rest...push the pedal down and pull out the **** and let the pedal come back...voila adjusted...you'll hear a couple clicks...what happens is that when the ****/switch is not adjusted, the truck thinks the brakes are engaged and ur TC lock-up as well as OD will not work.....

after that i would check and clean all connections followed by taking the wires that lead up to the TPS out of the loom...often times the wires get interference from engine vibration..taking them out of the loom is a common mod and fix

..thanks Mr T ..your right about the brake switch..heard about that ..I did have to replace the brake switch during the fall last year...So in my case, I ruled that part out..like my 2nd post said..it came down to the TPS sensor was bad..bought a new one, installed it yesterday...and it works like a new truck again..my next project is the KDP this weekend and find that #@**! water leak in the cab..lol thanks.
