my dad is looking to buy a 2nd gen but i have heard about the 53 block. did all 2nd gens have this block if not what years did they run them and what made them fail? what would be a good fix. Is it still possible for a truck that has 200,000 miles on it with a 53 block in it that has not cracked crack still? were some good and some bad? Thanks for any info on the 53 block and pros ond cons of the 2nd gens

 

not all had it and sure its possible not to have cracked...pretty easy to find out if its a 53...just look up at the casting. There are pics on here of where its located
