470,xxx Miles On My Brake Calipers
470,xxx Miles On My Brake Calipers
I've got 470,xxx miles on my 1995, 2-WD, 2500. Automatic trans. I've never changed the front calipers. They don't leak and they work OK, but one brake pad does wear more than the other one. I just replaced the pads, but my question is, is this normal, for the front calipers to last so long? I've decided to definitely change them out on my next set of pads. Anybody else have long-lasting front calipers?
Some years back I put a 2001.5 rear-end under my truck, in order to give me disc brakes, and I did buy new calipers then for the rear.

Personally, I would rebuild those calipers, even,if I had to put a temp set on there to cruise around.
All the Chinese market parts are crap, and don't last by comparison. I'm tired of changing out parts every few years that I just changed because of inferior quality.

That's a good long haul for sure. I suspect you're in a drier climate than parts of the rest of the continent.Nothing wrong with a DIY rebuild if your castings are still nice. Remans are only as good as the cores they refurbish. I'll often buy new if it's not much more money.
