2-3 Hang Shift
2-3 Hang Shift
Tranny has a "Hang" shift from 2-3 under normal throttle and only seems to do it when the tranny is warm. Any suggestions? Stock tranny. No slip while converter is locked though, only from 2-3.
The 2-3 shift is like this. The front clutch is applying while the front band is releasing. If the band releases too quickly you will get a flair. ( quick rev ) if it is too slow to release it hangs or drags. ( bind up ).
The same when the front clutch applies too slowly. ( binds up).
You can do some pressure checks to diagnose it.
It may be the seals in the front clutch curcuit leaking and that keeps it from applying as calibrated.
Since the front clutch is used for reverse, how is the apply of reverse? Is it different ?
Warm fluid actually leaks easier ( thru worn seals ), So this is my guess.
I'd suggest a seal fix in a can , or a rebuild.

In reverse it hasnt given me any problems. The tranny doesnt give me that problem all the time either. It seems to do as you described where it acts like it just lets go of 2nd and grabs 3rd when it gets ready, usually when I let go of the throttle. None of this happened until I installed my 3kGSK, AFC spring and 370's. Once it is locked it stays locked. Just wondering what adjustment is needed to cure this problem. I ordered a Transgo shift kit until I can afford a whole new transmission. I figured that would get me down the road until the money comes rolling in, whenever that is. Thanks.
