1998 ram Diesel problems:(

Hello, Ive reciently purchased a 1998 dodge ram 2500 diesel 4x4 ext cab..anywho, im having quite a few problems with it... first of all, and my biggest problem is my rear brakes keep pulsating, i replaced the drums thinking it was that and they are still doing it, Ive noticed when i get on sand or something on the road my rear drivers side tire will lock up and the rest wont. Also when i changed the drums i noticed the shoes on the drivers side were worn more than the passenger side. My truck has some kind of load valve on it for the rear brakes, and the peice is missing that goes from the arm to the axel, i dunno what its called and can't find it anywhere, so i figured that was the problem cause it was swinging freely, but i ziptied it to the chassi to stop it from moving and it still pulsates. i really have no idea what is causing this.

My next problem...My windshield wipers stop in the middle of the windsheild, i think that may be the park switch or something maybe...

My other problem is the transmission shifting...this video will explain best...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-J24wMJz0PI

not really sure what's up with that, dosn't seem to be slipping or anything, fluid levels are fine, don't smell burnt and have been freshly changed... Truck is fine other than when it get's around that speed. tends to jump back and forth, im not changing anything on the accelerator or touching anything, just maintaing the same speed.

anyway any help anyone could give would be great, thanks for your time

scott

From: North Carolina or Kentucky. Take your pick
It sounds like ABS system is controlling rear brakes. Need the load control valve to correctlly work. brakes are touchy in gravel(poor traction) and low load conditions.
A engine scanner (dealership) should be able to show cause on trans shift in and out of lockup at 40's MPH.

Shifting

Check your TPS voltage it may need to be cleaned. Make sure u use contact cleaner. I too was having this issue and what I found was that heavy bumps were acting on the brake pedal and knocking out tq. Pushing the brake does this maybe it needs some adjustment. Do search here for tps or ((google TDR))) look in tech section. If you dont fix that trans shifting in and out over time your gonna pay the toll.

ok. ill check the tps voltage, reading a article on it now... where is this located on my truck? Also i have another problem as you may have noticed in the video, my fuel gauge dosnt work correctly... it reads sometimes correct when im driving, but when i stop it goes form reading too empty, back and forth until i move again, is there any wiring between the gauge and the sending unit? i tested the float sending unit with a multimeter, seems to be working okay, maybe it needs to be changed...anyway any advice is great

yeah, the gauge goes from the right reading to empty all the time, i think it's the sending unit, that's the least of my worries, im bringing my truck to transmission experts monday to get it checked out, im hoping it isn't too serious... still have the brake problem, going to bypass that load valve on tuesday, hope that fixes it
