Buy an aftermarket head. They are casted much better than original heads and the material machines better. Piers offers them.

Fueling around....When you say aftermarket head what do you mean?

Are you saying that there is a better casting then a cummins casting?

Im looking for a new head and I have not seen much on the subject......

Could you give some part numbers to aftermarket heads if you have any or where to get them? Peirs....I thought he sells ported cummins castings heads....?

Thanks,

Lucas

The 12 valve heads I've seen do not come in a Cummins box. Local shop gets them from a place down by the Twin Cities.

I thought I had a photo of a side by side comparison between the blocks, but cannot find it. Casting is much thicker in the bosses around the exhaust side head bolts. The place that does his porting says the material is much better than stock heads.

I was going to o-ring my head laast year whent he gasket blew. Mike talked me into waiting to see if I wanted/needed o-ringing. If I do, then get a new head, port it, and of course o-ring.
