I found a 12V Cummins out of a loader and am wondering what all would be interchangable into a vehicular application...
Its a 12V, turbo, no intercooler, with the old VE pump... The nomeclature is missing from the front housing, and the engine is disassembled. Crankshaft appears to be visually ok, same with cylinder block, and cylinder head.
Story on engine is that the guy complained that the engine was using some oil, so he pulled the engine and disassembled. After it sitting for about a year, he hauled the loader off to the scrap yard. Left the engine disassembled in the shop.
I really could care less about the turbo or VE pump... Just wanting the castings for a little project truck!!
What all is the same?? I figure the rear housing is different???
There was a duplex filter base attached to the uderside of the cylinder head on the L/S not sure about how its connected to the cylinder head?????? Any ideas??

 

To my knowledge the blocks and heads should be relatively the same as the truck engines. Industrial engines usually have two fuel filters and there may be other small differences but you could probably swap one into a truck just fine.

 

guess now I just need to source a P-pump...
