12v burn to ground ,engine fire
The other thing that nobody has mentioned is also the drl module. Here in canada it is installed but I do not know about else where. One day after a normal ride home I shut off the truck and happened to see the headlights were still on,strange? Then I see flamming molten plastic dripping to the ground!!! Open the hood asap and remove battery terminals and it stopped. Turns out the whole back side of the driving light module melted and caught fire! Truck has stock lights and no chicken lights. After that I didn't want to replace it so I had no hi/lo indicator on dash at night, this happeded about eight years ago,I have since put one back in. If I did not have tools and it happen at home I would have lost the truck for sure.
I have my Trailer/Marker Lights on a seperate circuit with a toggle switch. I did this after I burnt a switch up. Mine went out in the dark, while raining, with oncoming traffic, in a curve!!!! Scarred the hell out of me.
I hate to bring up an old thread but if it keeps someones truck from burning down it's worth it:
The fuel heater can cause fires- it has started flaming up on two of our seven trucks(they were unharmed, we happened to be stopped at the time and saw smoke), at least two or three more had melted connectors and/or harnesses.
Pull those things off and toss them!
