So I'm a diesel, guy, but not an automatic guy. I have had 6 cummins trucks, but just this one with the auto. At highway speed, or even in the city, the t.c. will unlock, so the r's go up, and then the trans downshifts, for no reason. keep in mind, I didn't touch the brakes, or the cruise, or change my input on pedal

doesn't seem to matter how fast, empty or loaded. and its sporatic. one day it will be in and out a bunch of times, and then the next day, it will drive perfect. any ideas?

Your TPS is likely going bad. Do a search on putting a POT in place of the TPS. I did it to mine. Costs about $4 and you wont have to worry about o/d coming in and out anymore.

 

Also try to clean your battery terminals and check all grounds on the truck.

 

MIne did that- a new TPS fixed it.
