I'd talk to a distributor of A-1 studs. You're gonna have to machine something, one way or another. Either the rocker pedestals, or the ribs in the valve covers. The latter is something that the average joe can do, though.

I've got A-1 studs. 1 cover needed a 10 second buzz with a die grinder.
The auto threader must have been a bit short on that hole.

I take it the ARP nut is a bit wider and requires the land machining?

The http://www.haisleymachine.com/ 12v 12mm stud kit using A-1 (http://www.a1technologies.com/index_flash.php) hardware does not require machining the rocker pedestals. As has been said above, you may have to clearance a spot inside the valve cover.

That's it.

Van and his crowd stand behind their products with top-shelf support where needed.

i read the directions wrong when i had my rockers machined ond only told them to take off .020. these were the newer arp studs. so i just machined out the valve covers with the dremel and all is good. a very tight fit but i reused my valve cover gaskets and everything sealed up well. but on a side note i do not feel that i got all of the grab possible out of the last few threads of the stud. i bottom taped my block as well.

So you had your rockers machined with .020 taken off and still had to dremel the valve covers? did you have the head off the block when you bottom tapped the holes? i have a mig welder and am pretty good with metal work. do you think i could fit them if i could cut a hole and raise the top where the stud would go?

I'm in the dark. Why do you have to machine the rocker stands when using ARP studs? Are the studs too short?

Many complained from having to remove material in the valve cover, so they shortened the stud lengths and it requires around .200/.250" removed from the pedestals to make room for the thick washer and nut. Somewhat a pain but just part of it, once done though its all good and the valve covers require no modification.
