12 Valve Cummins Very Poor Acceleration

My 1996 Dodge 12 Valve just started to very poorly accelerate from a stop. Once it does get going it does spool up. Could this be from a dirty fuel filter or the turbo going out?

Check the fuel pressure or change the fuel filter......did you get a bad batch of fuel? Maybe a sticking waste-gate. The turbos usually last a very long time.

Turbo seems to spin freely... no play in the shaft. Changed fuel separator and the engine accelerated as normal.

Automatic transmission shifts a little bit erratically.

Recently had the Throttle Position Sensor and Transmission (47RE) Valve Body Assy replaced. However the mechanic recommended also having the TCM updated to latest calibration for better operation.

No engine light, but took the truck over to Oreilly's and had the codes checked.

Results:P0122 & P0123: TPS / Switch a circuit low input.

Also code p1757: Gov Pressure above 3 PSI in Gear with 0 MPH.

Guy at Oreilly's believed these could be residual codes that the shop did not clear after the work was completed since there is no current engine check light staying on now.

That's it.....you can get a new strainer and gaskets from Genos or Cummins for less than $10. While your are at it, get rid of the worthless fuel heater......just need to remove the bolt thingy holding it on then it with the fuel heater drops free allowing the bowl with the strainer to screw into the same hole. It really is worthless and causes problems down the road when it starts leaking on the suction side causing starting issues when the fuel system looses prime.
