which 12 valve
which 12 valve
I am looking for an engine for a donor truck. I have a '94 auto cummins with 190K. It runs great but I hate to pull it from the truck and part it out. I also have a line on a '98 auto just the motor that has around 140K. Which motor would be a better donor for a swap??? Is the pump the only diffrence between the two?? Everything else the same?? Any known problems about each of these motors???
Thanks!
Thanks!
I'm more of 24 valve guy myself. But most of the 12 valve dudes love those 98s. They were the last year for the 12 valve, so I guess they must have most of the bugs worked out. Not to mention being newer, I would think spare parts would be easier to come by. I can't say much about the other differences, I'm sure some undervalved gurus will chime in anytime.

go with the 98 less miles more power
while you have the engine out you should take care of the KDP
there really no difference in parts between them, the turbos would be different, all i can think of right now, hope the swap goes good
