Stanadyne Questions

What is the shelf life of Stanadyne Performance Formula Diesel Fuel Conditioner? I'm sure it will be much cheaper in bulk unless it goes bad before I can use it all.

Where is a good place to buy the stuff, meaning discount prices and they don't gouge you on shipping? The best I have found so far is www.fueladditivesonline.com.

I'm getting ready for my new truck to arrive!

I buy my Stanadyne in 5 gallon containers, and transfer 96 oz at a time into an old Power Service container. From there it goes into 2 One Shot (Stanadyne) containers that fit into the door pocket. For me, 5 gallons lasts around 10 months, and I've had no problems with "shelf life". It's way cheaper to buy in bulk. I think I paid $140.00 for 5 gallons, but I'm not positive now.

I asked the same question when I bought it last. The diesel shop I buy it from told me that it will not break down before I use it all. I got tired of going in there every six weeks for a 1/2 gallon jug, so I bought a case of 6. I would tell you to check out local diesel shops if you can. I think I paid about $85 for 3 gallons (~$14 per 1/2 gallon bottle).

Nice thing about Stanadyne

You know what it is?
It's that they have a MSDS for their product.... That is they list what's in their product....
You can see what your getting.
Now Power Service.... They have a MSDS that lists........ " Secret Formula"...
That is you have NO idea what's in it.

I bought 4 gallons of it last year. I ordered it through a trucking company that my friend works for. Apperantly that stuff has a very long shelf life. I still have another gallon of it left and I used it every fill. Works fine as far as I can tell.

Post The Official Word

I E-mailed Stanadyne about this, not really expecting a reply. But here's what I got back the next morning! I should be okay with a 6 x 1/2 gallon case, but where's a good place to get the stuff?

THANK YOU for your inquiry! We cannot accurately estimate the shelf life of our products since we are unable to accurately duplicate the conditions that they may be kept in by any particular consumer. We recommend that the additive containers be kept in moderate temperatures – not exposed to extremes with freezing and thawing or excessive sustained heat for any length of time – and as long as they remain sealed there appears to be no loss in efficacy or concentration of the product for 30-36 months. The color will tend to darken somewhat with time, but we have had consumers use additive they have found in barns or storage units after 4 years or more with no adverse effects. When it gets to be that age we would recommend blending it with newer product for maximum benefits.
