TPS effects tranny shifting??

Not sure if it is coincidence or fact but I was having issues with the 1st to 2nd shift, late engagement into gear and the TC staying locked when coming to a stop.
I went to a local tranny shop and the only code they could find was a TPS error. He reset the code and told me to drive it around to see if it was still having issues (at no charge ).
Well now it shifts fine, in fact the engagement is not as harsh at it was and no more staying locked.

Is it just coincidence or should I be getting a new TPS?
I do plan on having this shop do a flush, filter, and once over on the tranny when I can get another vehicle while it's down. In your experience what parts other than a TPS could be causing the problems? Just so I have some idea what oops costs to expect.

TPS, CPS, and VSS tells the PCM when to shift. If any one of those is sending a bad signal, the transmission won't shift correctly. Also, bad diodes in the alternator will introduce an AC voltage into the PCM which will also cause shifting and lockup problems.

Soak the TPS in some contact cleaner and let dry overnight.
Then adjust it to spec and give that a whirl.
