The steering box was the toughest. due to the OEM bends in the line it was a tough fit to clear the return line. But after removing the inner splash shield I was able to get it all lined up.

Then it was follow the priming/starting instructions from the rebuild thread posted earlier.

Took the crewcab for a short drive...since it was getting late....and the brakes feel so much better!
Pedal feel is a whole different world isn't it?
Nice write up.

So, I gotta ask, what movie did you go see with the family?
No problem Augie....hope the info comes in handy.

We went and saw The Martian I'm a bit of a space geek....so I really enjoyed it. But it was a pretty darn good movie overall.

Driving around in the crew today and I'm loving the braking! And I think my PS is working better then ever, wheel and tires turn effortlessly now and is smooth as silk, and I swear my idle is up a bit. I think the old PS pump was slowly dying and putting drag on the motor.

Great write up. I've got 2 hydro units from a 96 cummins and a 2000 cummins. I've been putting off installing. I will definately be looking back on this thread when the wrenches start turning. Which should be sooner than later due to the constant "hiss" of the vacuum leak from my current stock system. I definately vote to sticky this write up

I'm planning on using the stock mc bracket on my mess. I'm just hoping it won't be to close to my intake horn.

Here is another link. Again Mark (Mknittle) found this site originally. If you are not up to cutting, threading and making your own push rod, then you can order the parts to make one from these guys.

Pretty sure with the stock bracket the front of the MC will be pressed up tight again the intake tube. I have seen some guys upgrade to the 24V air horn to get a little extra room.

Thanks for doing this write up! I'll be tackling this conversion on mine this winter. You answered some of my questions. I'm using a HB that is new (not reman cardone garbage) and was listed for a Chevy 3500 w/ JB8 brake system.

Do all Astrovans have HydroBoost or only certain years/models? I need to grab the bracket off of one. I might make my own bracket so that the stock GM pushrod will be the correct length for the brake pedal. That way If I have to replace it on the road I can use stock parts and not have to worry about making the rod work.
Nice work all around man!

Yeah that is the stock lines from a 2000 Cummins truck. Guess since the HB sits under the cowl that it was easier to run the hoses out a foot or so.

Oh and an Honorable mention to Justin for finding that the Astro Van bracket was a drop in for 1st Gen firewalls....Sorry buddy, should have given you credit for that.
