One Way to Install a Powerstroke Intercooler

wouldn't that make the turbo have more boost on the hot side of the intercooler?
i plumed mine into the elbow off the turbo to limit the turbo to 35 psi. my thought was to keep the turbo running at 35psi vs running 40+ on the hot side of the i/c and only reading 35psi after the intercooler.

I guess I'm more worried about the head gasket than the turbo.

The aftermarket ones are larger, I don't see how you'd fit one. It would be expensive, too. If you want to spend that kind of money, do it like BC847 did and get one custom built that is as big as possible. Putting in a PSD or 2nd gen intercooler is a low-buck upgrade, not the best option possible.

Not WAY easier as there is still some brackets/mounts to be made and some cutting, but it would make it easier for placement a bit.
I was thinking about it, but my A/C system still had a charge and the compressor was free, so I must have an electrical problem. I'll figure it out down the road. Didn't want to ruin my good condenser, but to each his own.

Tranny Cooler
Hey Ace:
Did your truck have a little coooler tucked up in the top corner on the drivers side? I think its a tranny cooler that runs to the other auxillary cooler under the bed?
Has anyone else encountered this cooler? If so, how did you address it installing the Ford PSD intercooler?
Thanks,

I was thinking about mounting 2 of them on each side of the bumper and making a sawzall hole to get air to them. It just wouldn't cool well at idle since no fan will be blowing air over them.
Then again, I have an NV4500 to throw in soon, so maybe I won't be worrying about it at all

I'm almost finished installing... heres some photos of how i got the condenser mounted with no custom brackets or welding.
I coated the center support with a thick smear of gasket maker to protect the condenser from vibration.
I used SS screws with lock washers because it was lower profile than a bolt hex head and i didnt want get too close to the IC
theres just enough core support width to get a small bolt on the inside in between the upright rib and the radiator. Just be REAL careful drilling or you will be buying a new radiator too.
