Need help with 9.25 outer bearings
Hey all,
First off, Am I the ONLY one here with a 9.25 rear axle on a W250 CC 4WD? (I searched my brains out) Seems all the cool kids are riding around on Dana 60's. Which oddly enough my Front axle is! So with the history of this truck I wouldn't be surprised if the rear axle hasn't been swapped.
Onto my question, I just need a homebrew method for removing my outer axle bearings.
The FSM lists a "Special Tool" attached to a slide hammer, But I need some Redneck Ingenuity.
Can you help a brother out?
Thanks!

Pull the gasser axle out of there, and replace it with the proper Dana 70 axle.
That would be your best bet, IMO.

I'm with NJT.
That truck came with a Dana 70 from the factory, I would find a Dana 70 rear axle and install it.
If you NEED to fix that gasser axle...Special tools on the cheap, means pull the welder out a make a home-brew slide hammer out of what is around the shop.

So it's NOT the stock axle! Why am I not surprised.
The homemade slide hammer is the best I could come up with too Oliver.

in my neck of the woods you can find dana 60 and 70 rear axles in junk yards all day long. im surprised you haven't shredded that 9.25, those things were junk in 1/2 ton gassers!

I've seen the odd 8-lug semi-float in these trucks... the last was a D250 clubcab with a 318. More common in vans.
These are the type of tools you use with a slide-hammer. I recently did them on the gf's Jeep Liberty (dodge 8.25 diff) and it works like a charm.
