fuel shut off solenoid
I have a 1996 2500 That won't shut down when the key is turned off.
A friend said the fuel shut off solenoid might be the problem.
Where do I look for it? and Is it hard to replace?
Thanks, Terry

Hi Terry;
It may be a stuck solenoid or the relay that powers the solenoid is hung up.
If the fuel shut off solenoid is not scorching hot than it is probably a mechanical issue usally caused by gunk in the plunger. They are easy to remove & service
2 bolts on top and one on the rear.
It might also be the dreaded starter solenoid contacts are hanging up.

Go here for parts to cure a few ills, like solenoid problems caused by the starter. Also carries new boots and relays. Solenoids do not go bad very often, they are pretty stout. The boots rot and hang up or starter contacts may burn it up. Relay sticking will cause erratic operation. All pretty easy to fix and not expensive.
