It's funny you should say that... we just got rid of Nextel for Verizon. What a royal PITA they were to deal with right from the start. The Corporate store we were dealing with didn't know if they could set up government entities. That was the first red flag. After 3 days they finally got that straightened out, but then it was the issue of dealing with multiple states and accounts. The same billable entity couldn't be billed in more than one state or have more than one account. 3 days later and that was straightened out. Had the phones for about a month and a half and found that for the areas we worked in the most, the coverage wasn't all that much better than Nextel. Got talked into going to an AT&T store. Within 2 hours they had us set up in multiple states with multiple accounts and government billing. So far we haven't found an area of 'no signal' yet. Even inside our metal office trailer we still have usable phones. The only negative to report that I can see is the features of my basic phone from them. only 2 or 3 ring tones to choose from and I have to put the phone ringer and voice mail notification ringer on 'quiet' separately. And when I'm talking to someone, the first word of the other party's conversation is quieter than the rest of the conversation. It gets louder gradually as they speak, so in a noisy environment I sometimes lose the first word from the caller.

Michael got a blackberry and he seems to like it from what I can tell... he hasn't thrown it across the room yet at least.

I have the Droid from Verizon, switched from Sprint that has pretty much been a nightmare for 5 years. Verizon finally made it to my area and so far I am very pleased with the service here in the mountains.

He should be used to it..

I currently have the original version of the Blackberry Storm. The phone is amazingly tuff considering how many times I've slamed it on my desk from its frequent visits to useless mode. I've been seriously considering purchasing the new Droid, just wainting for Verizon to work out the kinks..

Thanks for all the good info guys...I am really interested now. I think I will wait until Feb though to see what develops and get the bugs fixed. We will have some more VZ towers in our area by then also.

Thanks again........

You're welcome. Keep checking the new website too and feel free to ask questions over there. In the next week or so, I'm going to be posting a bunch more information about the phone.

The biggest problem I see with Verizon is their plan pricing. I've been with, what is now AT&T, since 1989. I started with a bag phone and now have the Tilt. I have 1K roll-over minutes, 1500 txt msgs and unlimited internet and it cost me about half of what Verizon would cost. The plan may not work for some, but it works great for me.
As far a service, I really have very few complaints. The majority of the time, when I don't have service, the folks with me with different carriers don't either. I would like to see Microsoft make some improvements on their mobile operating system. I'm running v 6.1 now and will upgrade to 6.5 as soon as some of the bugs are eliminated. I will also upgrade to the Tilt 2 as soon as the price drops a little.
If I was just getting into SmartPhones or was having it paid for by an employer, I would consider Verizon and the Droid, but right now, I can't justify the move.
