Super Cool and CHEAP TPS fix! Dial-in your OD shift point!
OverDrive problems? Tired of replacing $200 TPS units? Check this out:
I read a lot about TPS problems and OD shifting problems and got a lot of great info from other members, who inspired this idea:
I got a 5k (linear taper) potentiometer (for $1.50). I disconnected the TPS plug and clipped it off. Got a good length (10') of shielded/braided 3-strand wire. Using heat shrink and solder I connected the new wire to the TPS wire from the harness. I routed it back along the exsisting wiring harness and over to the firewall where I snaked it in with the other exsisting wires. I installed the potentiometer in the dash near the OD button. Now I can "dial-in" the shift point of my OD. It works great! I can cause the OD to shift (and down-shift) at a constant speed anywhere from about 33 to 50 mph. It is SUPER COOL!
Whaddya think?

I think it's a meter to determine the potential effectiveness of Viagra.

You naughty naughty boy you.
Don't be surprised if you get a knock on the door late one night and there are a couple roughians from DC standing there.
You have taken their revenue away. Shame on you, turning a $200 dollar repair into a buck fifty job.
Now, got any more good ideas?

Give it a try Denis - you'll like it.
Just remember: The TPS is "upside down" in reference to the normal pot. The potentiometer you buy will increase when turned clockwise. The one on the truck does also, but it's flipped over. Disconnect the one on the truck, flip it over, and then wire the pot in the same configuration. Get it?
Then re-install the TPS, but just leave it disconnected. That way it's easy to switch back if you need to do so.
