I need simple easy ride hwy.,no mud slingers, do we have a list ,or explation for size &ratings,american to metric,?

 

215 / 85 R16 BFG commercial TA is what I just put on mine, I'm real happy with them so far.

 

i dont know how to explain thesize and ratings and all that. but i recommend BFG All-Terrain tires. my dad does all like 95% highway, and they lasted him 110,000 miles on them with getting them balanced and rotated when the recommend service things were. also no road noise. i highly reccomend them

 

Did yoy get the traction tires or just the reg commercial ta?

 

If you really want to know this, the latest DP magazine has a big ol' write-up on it. Otherwise, I have run both Goodyear Wrangler AT/S, (I think that's what they are?) and whatever the equivalent Michelin's are, and I don't have a problem with either of them. Well, except the $$$ for the Michelins. Both sets lasted around 80k, but I do a bit of heavy towing so they'll wear faster than empty. I'm guessing the compound is a bit softer than the BFG's, hence the difference in the milage.

 

I have a set of Bridgestone Dueler AT REVO's on the back of my dually and I love them. They get excellent traction on the highway, as well as pretty dad gum good traction in the soft stuff. They came on the truck when I bought it at 150k and I'm at 180k with tons of tread left. I highly recommend them.

 

Metric tire size explained: stock (don't quote me) on your dually is 215/85R16. The section width (widest part of the tire) is the first number 215 mm. The 85 is an aspect ratio for the height of your sidewall. 85% of 215mm is 182.75mm You have to multiply this by 2 to get the height of your tires, minus the rim. 365.5 mm. Convert to inches>13.389" add 16 for your rim, you get 29.389. Section width converted to inches is 8.464." Help? if you don't get into any slippery or off road situations get a set of straight tread tires, but don't be a cheap skate. buy good tires, and they will wear good.

Schamran did a good explanation of the sizes... FYI, there are 25.4mm per Inch. So pretty much my 255/85's are 10" wide tires...

 

235/85/16's should fit will be a little tight on the rear for duallys unless you have 2nd gen rims. mastercraft courser ct's are areally good all around tire and there pretty afordable . or you could run just run that size on the front and 215/85/16's on the rear would help with leveling ...

 

Ya, 235's should fit, some of the trucks came with them stock. I'm pretty sure someone said in 93 or maybe 92 they used 5.300" back spacing on the dually rims. Normal ones are 5.000". So that's more than 1/2" more spacing between the duals on some trucks.

I was able to squeeze 255's on mine without touching, but they were close. I'm assuming I have the 5.300" spacing.
