Clutch hydros ?

First of all I have a 1992 W250 with an auto trans.

Getting the parts together to swap out my auto to a nv4500 that I got from a 94.

The clutch master from the 94 is broken.

If I buy a clutch master from the parts store for for a 1992 will it hook up to the 1994 hose/and slave?

Will I need some kind of bracket at the firewall?

Is there a different clutch hose I can buy other than the plastic one?

Thanks for the input.

I believe the new hydros will have the master, slave and hose all together and full of fluid.

Don't think they're available seperate, ya might be able to find a usable setup at a salvage yard. Might try an add in the classifieds, maybe someone has an original setup that might have changed over to Southbend or Valair hydros? be worth a try.

make sure your top cylinder is at least the same diameter or bigger than the bottom cylinder

I have had the hydro's on a bench for all generations of Dodge trucks. All use the same size pistons. All use the exact same slave cylinder. The main difference is the push rod used for the year model. The 94+ trucks use a different length push rod for the M/C.

The NV4500 and getrag use the same slave cylinder push rod. The 6spd's use a longer push rod. The last two years of 4500's used the 6spd push rods.

BTW the slave cylinder for all years has the same casting number also.

I picked up a 1st gen master yesterday.

So it looks like I will need a 1st gen mounting bracket and a clutch pedal.

Can I use my auto brake pedal and just cut down the foot pad or will I need to get a manual one?

Also does anyone know of any other options for the hose that runs from the master to the slave?

Something a little more flexable than that hard plastic one.

If th plastic one is in good shape and not leaking. I would run it. No one I know of sells just that line.

You could cut down the auto pedal. The question is why? Most people selling pedals used, sell both both as a matched set. Trying to buy just the clutch pedal wouldn't drop the price any on a purchase.

The matched pedals would be fine.

So I'm assuming the pair of pedals will mount to my existing "auto" pedal bracket?

There are actually 2 different bore sizes on the '94-'02 hydros.
I've seen them both ways on the V-10/Cummins stuff, most V-6 or V-8 ones are the smaller diameter.
The Diesel hydro is also hit & miss on which size they use.

'93 and down all seem to be a universal size, doesn't matter on the application, though the line length and shape does vary significantly, due to routing differences.

For reference, since I know you got one already, Rockauto sells the master cylinder in their AUTOSPECIALTY / KELSEY-HAYES line and it's Part # Q87005.
Their price is $47.89.

As far as the pedals & hydro master bracket, anything 1988 through 1993 will interchange, as long as they are from a manual truck, V-6, V-8, Diesel, it doesn't matter.
Your pedal support bracket is pre-drilled for the hydro bracket already.

Beware, if you should happen onto a 1987, it is a one off year and the pedals interchange, but the hydro master set-up is it's own critter.

Mark.
