Hi Randy.

SBC doesn't have anything in the way of hydro's for a 1st gen.

Use the adjustable hydro's.

On the later models the M/C push rod is a different length. Due to mounting differences in the two body styles. They changed the mounting configuration on the 2nd gen's. Ours uses a mounting bracket on the steering column support inside the firewall. The 2nd gen's mounted directly to the firewall with a 2 bolt flange configuration.

The 2nd gen M/C will fit the 1st gen mounting bracket. Due to the longer push rod used. It will need to be shortened to make it work. The good news its a round shaft that uses a 3/8" x 16 thread pitch. That is normal SAE spec. So shortening it is easy. The bad part is the clutch safety switch has to go. When you shorten the push road. The amount of rod needed for the safety switch is to short for proper operation. The jam nut will wipe the switch out.
I just went threw clutch hydro's when I installed the G56 a while back.

Now on those upgrade hydro's. Don't think of them as a upgrade. The clutch slave cylinder has the same casting number and bore size. The M/C has the same bore size and travel. The only thing you could think of as an upgrade is the flex line instead of the hard plastic line.

If your not having any problems with your current hydro's. They should work with the DD. The slave cylinder push rod from the adjustable kits is 1" longer than a getrag push rod is. So you would be reusing your old rod anyway.

I can't say what is need on the DD install. I don't know.

If you go with a trans swap later on. If its a NV4500 the stock getrag setup would work. If you go to a NV5600 or a G56. You need the longer hydro hose the upgrade kits has. These two trans runs the slave cylinder mounted differently.

You would need to remove the clevis end. Rethread the rod full length. The adjustable push rod needs to be shortened 1.3750". Other than that its bolt in just like the orginal hydro's would be.

If your stock hydros are still good they will work fine with that clutch. If you feel the need to replace them just get a new factory one. It comes pre-bled and ready to go. Takes 15 minutes to replace. Peter at south bend said the first gen hydros are a very stout unit and do not need to be upgraded. I did not need to do any trimming anywhere to get my DD in but it was close. Peter is working on some new stuff for the dual disc clutches. He is also doing a new setup with a special throw out bearing to get it to fit better in the 1st gen. Should be a sweet setup.

We did not have any clearance issues with the SBC DD. I guess some bellhousings may rub a little, if so get out the die grinder. We did put on a braided stainless line just for insurance.

I cannot promise these fittings will work, but I am pretty sure they will:

If you got two of them and a -3 line, you would have "upgraded hydros".
