gearbox

i see alot of talk and discussion about steering gears. has anyone ever seen this fix?

I have seen a few posts about those and they look interesting to me, as a preventive thing. Glad to hear your positive feedback about it. There seems to be a few companies selling versions of that but I really like the price of the one in your link.

Tell me one thing, the part that threads on to the sector shaft, does it go on below the original pitman arm nut, or instead of the original nut?

The shaft replaces the nut. I've got one on my truck, works pretty good.

it doesnt take but maybe 45 minits even if you screwin around they are super easy to install

Put one on my 95 after installing a Borgsen box . The Borgsen box is spaced off the frame 3/8" which required moving the bearing mounting and shaft clearance holes in the brace toward the passenger side about 5/16". Not to hard to do if you have a milling machine. Sent this info to the brace manufactor as just an FYI but didn't get any reply. If you don't have a mill another option would be to cut the bearing plate free move it and reweld it.

found out today that the one i install on my boss' truck had the special nut strip out of it. getn a new nut 2mro

These guys make the nut in house so they're usually readily available as a single piece. I think I paid like $10 to get mine from them.

installed the new nut today its an upgraded part. much much better quality than the first one it came with
