Yeah, he better not get caught with a Barret in California or he will be in some real trouble!

I agree the Big Bear event was a distraction, fire brings fireman and a lot of newsies, as well as other personel, a fine tactic to divert attention while he heads back downhill...unless he wanted to get a day or two of skiing in while the snow flies!!

This guy needs to get put down before he kills again.

Really? You would fire into a pickup without identifying the occupants? Please turn in your guns. You are dangerous.

What is one if the basic rules to observe before firing your weapon? Know your target and what's behind your target. These 2 idiots did not identify the target, they just opened fire because they were scared. They NEED to be fired.

This is gonna turn into a movie type of take down.

He's ex-military. They are gonna need active pro's to figure him out and take him down, this may be beyond regular law enforcement...

He knows a bunch of his LEO group in SoCal aren't trained to tackle a situation like this, yet he is likely to be spotted or confronted by some. The likelihood that he will run into the specialists is probably not as likely as he will run into regular traffic guys or street cops.

Remember the shooters in LA back in the 80's. How long before somebody finally went prone and started getting hits?

This is a bad situation. He must have a history of mental issues.

Yeah, I just read an update to the story. Now he's got Charlie Sheen telling him to call him so they can talk. I guess Donner respects him for telling off his boss on 2.5 Men.

I'm nervous for all the LEO's out there til he is caught/dead.

Looks like it's SOP at LAPD.

Police seeking Dorner opened fire in a second case of mistaken identity.

I'm thinking (hoping) that he wandered off into the woods and off'ed himself.
Especially since he hasn't been seen in a couple of days......AND they're offering a million $$$ reward.

Just been watching all these vids on this case from several news sites... The details are so mixed up. I'm noticing a lot of inconsistencies. His vehicle identity has been mixed up twice, once even after they supposedly found "his" truck burned. The blue Toyota was driving towards the cops with no lights on while they managed to shoot the tailgate and both rear windows full of holes... His badge was found "nearby" at the marina where he supposedly was stealing a boat, but wait - it was also found at the airport? The best part is everything is "allegedly" or "suspected". Seems nobody's actually seen the guy where any of these crimes were commited! He just posted up the manifesto and the cops went bazerk! He could be sitting at home watching all this on his TV laughing while cops are running rampid, paranoid and smashing into people and then shooting at them thinking it was Dorner! Nothing makes any sense. The media is doing a good job of making the guy look real bad though. I wonder what REALLY happened?! I wonder how much of all this is true, what's mistaken and what's blown out of proportion.

Well, I am not going to get in to an online argument about whether or not I should carry a gun, I have no need to prove my ability's, judgement or anything else, my 20+ yrs of Law Enforcement, about 2 dozen letters of commendation and tenure as a police instructor say enough for me...
I simply point out that second guessing decisions that have to be made in a split second is a easy thing to do, but you need to be able to put yourself in that individuals place and understand his mindset to judge accurately,
and , I do agree that those gentlemen will probably loose their jobs and or face both civil and criminal sanction..

So who is supposed to protect us from those who are supposed to protect us?
Ideally, those who protect us police themselves as well..

The scariest part of this is how he is turning into a "anti-hero" to so many sectors of the public...like his actions are somehow justified.
There have even been FaceBook posts offering assistance to him, or stating he should be in public office..
"To add insult to injury, even as thousands of law enforcement officers are searching for him, the police department is reopening an investigation into the circumstances of his firing. If this is being done as some sort of tactical ploy to draw him out of hiding and into “negotiations” so he can be taken into custody, then I suppose that’s fine. But if the administration at the police department is seriously responding to the murder and attempted murder of several of their officers by saying, “oh, wait… let’s see if maybe he’s got a point” … then the world has truly turned on its ear. "

Its a messed up, screwed up world...

Simple answer is our republic system.

1.The Courts ....... Sets things right. Unfortunately, it usually isn't the case. Courts protect the cops when they shouldn't, and also the criminal when they shouldn't.

2. Election...... The main law officer is supposed to be the sheriff, an elected official. If he or his men screw up, a job is lost. It's plain to see that circumvented by common practice.

Which brings the argument around once again to the second amendment.

No disrespect intended for the majority of the police officers who actually have common sense.
More directed at the "Barney Fifes" and "Dirty Harrys" that seem to be more prolific in today's departments.

At least the East coast is still out of range.........

We still remember PG county's Chief Moose and the "White Work Van" wild goose chase from the Beltway Shooters a few years ago.
Ultimately the pair was found in this:

But not until many roadblocks searching every work van in the area following each incident.

Ed, I am probably just being grumpy today... that one comment ( not yours) was kinda offensive, altho I hopefully AM a bit dangerous..

Law Enforcement kinda works like a computer.. you go with the best info you have at the time, work off of that and try to adjust as the info/situation changes, which is often by the second......garbage in/garbage out.. its one of the more frustrating parts of the job.

Its a tough job, no doubt.

Every career search I have ever taken, over 6, have always turned out firefighter/police officer. The closest i came was firefighter but got discouraged after getting the high scores in two tests and being told I was 12th alternate and 9th alternate, due to the positions already being chosen, but required to be tested for publicly.....

I was one helluva EMT and Ski Patroller though, for ten years full time!!

Never could see myself carrying a gun and not making my own decisions in the field, though. I would have been a way better judge than field officer, IMO!!

Hoping for no more death/injury to LEO's in this incident and a lawful conclusion.

People are gettin crazier and crazier.....

It's a sad state of affairs when people are more afraid of LAPD than Dorner.
