My project is not completely finished however I got around to testing the lights out yesterday. Today I plan to reassemble lenses completely. Debating weather to hold off on complete install til after spring or not and avoid the nasty melt. That way my lenses will stay nice for at least the summer.

I bought a set of TYC aftermarket assemblies to do my retrofit. My oven was to small the fit these large lights into so I had to resort to a heatgun. Separation of the housing was definitely the hardest part so far, but mostly due to being my first attempt and not wanting to break anything. The second assembly took half the time of the first one. I purchased all my stuff from Jeremy McFail from Retro Shop LLC. He has been more than helpful with my questions/concerns along the way. I went with H1 morimotos, 55W digital ballasts, and 5000k bulbs. I am not into the colored look.

I try to remember to update photos once I have the project complete for database purposes.

Very nice project, I love the nice sharp cutoffs of a projector beam. I am looking forward to hearing your impressions of the upgrade once you have spent some time with it on the road. I am especially curious to hear whether long-distance illumination has improved when out on the highway. Am not sure whether your HIDs are bi-xenon (have a high beam function), or just a single beam?

The H1 bulb is a xenon (non bi-xenon) bulb. However the projector itself provides the cutoff line for low beam and a solenoid is activate which causes a flap to move and open up the full beam pattern. It will increase beam distance on the highway with out a doubt.

Im not understanding how these work. You had to seperate the clear lens from the chrome background and install that projector deal?

Yes that is correct. You could go the easy route and just install a HID H13 bulb into the stock housing but then you'd be one of those dude blinding everyone on the road.

Update requested-- How do the High Beams work?? I had a set of cheapo- HID Bulbs, and they didnt have the High beam option. So I ended up going back to the Halogen bulb. Also, at night- Does the focused low beam shine where it needs to? My truck didnt come with Fog lights, so I either have to purchase Fogs, or just bite the bullet and pay for this upgrade.

I can not say what the beams are like at night as I have yet to finish my install. Thinking about waiting til spring. When I do finish I will update this thread for sure. I can say after all the review I read about HI morimotos projectors has been nothing but positive.

prlsnpsdodge the reason you were never happy with the HID bulb in the stock halogen reflectors is because it scatters the light erratically and incorrectly. These projectors are designed to work specifically with the type of HID bulb (ie the H1) to give proper beam.

Then I look forward to the completion of the install. I do a lot of night driving, and hopefully this project will allow me to return to HID lighting.

Obviously I did the projector install myself but you can buy the headlights from Jeremy already completed or send your headlamp assemblies for him to retrofit. I definitely consider the separation of the headlamps a difficult task. If you DON'T consider yourself a patient man, then maybe avoid tackling yourself.

PROJECTOR HEADLIGHTS Jeremy provides a lot of custom options but it drives the price up further than most price range. They are a little pricey side but after doing this job myself, I commend him, I would never try to make money doing this. He must be ALOT faster at it than I.

I got around to installing the headlights and HID wiring. I am very pleased with the turn out. With all the snow melt going on right now it only took about 4 blocks after the photos for the truck to become completed dirty again. Once the opportunity arises, I will take some ohotos of the light output on the road. I should have the fog lights switched to HID by then too.

I did a retro fit myself. I have a 2003 Ram, however I'm having problems with the high beams. I decided to do everything myself instead of paying $300 for the whole kit I bought my own projectors and an HID kit from DDM Tuning. All together I only spent $80 instead of $300. BUT my problem is I ran the low beam wire to the power wire on the HID and my high beam wire to the projectors cut off flap. When I did this I forgot that when I switch from low beams to high beams it turns my lows off. So now when I do so my light goes out and projectors cut off flap is activated. The projector calls for an H1 bulb.

My question is..Does anyone know how to tie both the low and high beams together? That way when I turn the highs on the lows also stay on. I seen there was a post about how to do it that "Silverram323"had posted but it was for a 2002 Ram. Mine is a 2003. I still attempted to do the mod but can not find the same color wires. ANY help would be GREATLY appreciated!
