Another oil filter test.....

I personally look at the bypass spring strength too.
The pressure regulator that's behind the filter on the block bypasses excess flow.

Until now I had no knowledge of that fact. Also being the Fleetguard filter in the test was standard filter with standard Cellulose media and not a Stratapore filter one has to wonder if the Stratapore filters also uses cardboard end caps and if so then they to will be on my list of oil filters to not use when I can't get a Donaldson ELF/Amsoil filter.

I prefer people use Fram, Penzoil, NAPA, or any other filter except a fleetguard, or Mopar. Removing a Mopar filter when doing an oil change makes a mess. Always have to have a rag wrapped around it, but you still manage to have to tip it a bit and make a mess. Using the cheap filter will mean I stay clean when it's removed..... the oil is always an inch or two down in the case. Makes my life easier. (don't see donal...whatever filters or many baldwins so I can't compare). BTW nothing but mopar on my CTD.

My self and others would rather use a filter that filters out more smaller particles then what Mopar oil filters can. IIRC Mopar oil filters filter oil in the 35 micron range, Fleetguard Stratapore filter at 25 microns and Donaldson/Amsoil oil filters filter at 15 micron range with the smaller the micron number the better it is at removing more harmful stuff from your oil.

I've started using Baldwins because a friend's brother owns a diesel shop in town and I try to support the locals whenever possible. He says he carries the best stuff he can get and he feels Baldwins are higher end than fleetguards.
