Blown Tranny update...

So I finally started to get the funds together to fix my truck

As some of you may remember, I blew out 3rd and reverse

Well Here is what the quote includes
Removal of old transmission
rebuilding with stronger/working components where needed (some stuff is getting beefed up whether it needs it or not)
new torque converter with ~1600 stall
bolting it all back together

The price.. and you may want to be seated for this...

$1300, or if anything unexpected is broken, it will max out at $1500.

I am happy as a clam

Just in time too cause I need it the last week of july to move!

New tranny, 4 new LPs
I got good at changing LPs because I dont have any desire to get good at changing IPs.

yea I know, I about soiled myself!

I think first things first, I gotta prove the tranny... then Ill see if he is happy with his work load... if he wants more, ill get him more =)

on a side note, he will be building a new tranny for my 800hp Impala SS, and he has already built a tranny that has survived in a 1500hp camaro drag setup... I think he knows what he is doing

A good tranny guy is completely invaluable...

My pilot bearing failed a few weeks back, so I figured with 250,000 miles it was time for a trans rebuild. I have a friend who rebuilds NV4500s exclusively for AAA towing here in Omaha. He's seen hundreds of them... looked at mine, said all was in great shape except for the ghetto fifth gear fix we did - so I got a new mainshaft with longer splines for 5th gear, a new 5th gear to match, and an input shaft kit since I've ruined two pilot bearings now - it was a little loose...

Total price, about $1100 parts & labor. I felt pretty good about that!
