What year did Dodge go to the larger brakes?

What I mean is when they required the 17" rims to clear them.

That was my thought, but a friend of a co-worker said they switched in 2005.

My co-worker is looking at a 2004.

2002 was the last year to have 16's from what I understood, and that all 2003+ trucks have 17's

In 2003 they switched to the AAM axle, larger brakes, requiring 17 inch wheels, tire size optional, my 04.5 has 17" wheels

My 04.5 has the 17" wheels and the brakes take up a lot of space in them.

That is why the older 16" won't fit the 03 and newer trucks. The calipers wont clear.
