Wiring a 7pt plug
Ok,
I have a 7pt/4pt plug from wallyworld installed on my truck. I also have the dodge wiring harness plug for adding a 7pt. The kit that came from wallyworld has a purple wire that is for backup lights and is a fairly large guage wire, the wire on factory wiring harness for backup lights is also purple and a very small guage.....
My question is.... should I be concerned about the guage difference in the wires? its VERY substantial...
To utillize a relay... or not is the question?

Here is a good place to look at the color codes and wire gages.

You can google 7 pin trailer harness and get all sorts of hits.

Just a couple of backup lights, on the purple wire anyway... just seemed like a really small guage wire for much current.....
and of course the guage difference between the walmart harness and the factory harness....
Thanks though.... not near so concerned now
