I had my '05 for 3 weeks before it lost the cat and muffler.
My little old neighbor lady does not approve but it sure does sound nice at 2000 rpms

I put an MBRP (with no cat) on at 985 miles, I don't think it sounds all that great, my 01 sounded much better. I may try to straight pipe mine to see if it is too loud.

I honestly think these trucks should come with no muffler from the factory, and make it an OPTION if you want one

mine is straight piped but i kept the kitty. i heard david4x4's truck 100% straight and that bad boy is LOUD. i kept the kitty and mine is just loud enough for me to be happy but not get the old lady griping at me. it is a little tiresome when im towing long distances....especially if nursing a hangover

BUT...the sound of it when i want to hear it is MORE than enough justification for me to keep it that way

Yep, same here....
A buddies truck was straight all the way, a little too loud for me, for now...
Might pull the kitty off after I get around to sound deadening the floor some.
Sure does cut down on the smoke too

I will say Stacks> all, but having a shortbed, and not wanting to make it any shorter, no stacks on my 05
Sure did sound SWEET on my '97 though, but 12valves sound better!

Loud=good !

Mine is straight piped, but left the resonator (stock on mega cab maybe on others ?) & the sound is just right ! Traveled 5,000 miles in a 2 week time frame out west this August & nary a drone !!

5" all the way!!!!

You should hear the drone in 6th at 1600! I think that is the sound you call a "drone". Anyway, it is freakin' loud and I'm grinin'! And that is actually trash burin' in my campfire pit at the pond, but it still makes for a cool pic.

I couldnt hear the motor when I first bought my 06. The first thing that came to mind is (weak). That only lasted for a week. Its true, straight pipes save lives!
