Which rear axle seal in my Ram?
I was doing rear brakes on my goat and found my driver side rear axle seal has gone bad.
Can someone give me the part number I need, my local parts stores make me
03 2500 2WD 5speed CTD
I looked around for a bit and could not find one.
I have a carquest and NAPA to choose from.
TIA,
Max

Hummm Dodgeparts.com isn't giving me a part numer for it, but if it's #7 than the discription is:
Front drive axle, Drive axles, Front axle, Axle seals, Axle seals, ram 2500, 3500 - american 9.25 - AMERICAN 9.25 and is $22.08
Oh I just saw your 2wd..... humm that's not the part That;s front ...one sec

Don't forget to check your axle tube vent,,,,, guy on the 2nd gen. forum told me on my 01', when I posted up on the forum about my real axle seal leaking.... I think his call name was "Clunk",,,,,, sucker nailed it for me. The hose that plugs into the vent tube was clear, but the metal tube on the axle housing that the hose plugs into was plugged tighter than dicks hat band.
Never did figure out what was in it,,, no dirt,,,, looked like fine shavings, splinters type thingys. Inside the diff. was clean. Still put a new seal in it since I had it apart, but he went on to say that most of the time, after he cleaned the vent the seal would quit leaking.
I'm assuming you'll have the same type vent that I had.

Correct me if I am wrong but the first exploded view is a front axle assembly and the second is a rear of off a 1500 not a 2500. The Dodge part number for a 2500 single wheel is 5086773AB and in Jun 16th 09 it was $49.36 in Canadian Dollars.
