I have never known anyone that has rebuilt an ac compressor. Of course, that doesn't mean that there aren't any, but I don't think that it is very common...Mark

I found this for an old gm A6, but rebuilding them yourself seems to be fairly uncommon...Mark

If I remember correctly, the A6 was a piston type compressor and most new types are rotary...Mark

Yea, this is a sandin ,,,,, it looks small& doable, don't think it has too many parts. I keep seeing rebuild kits but no rebuild books. If i decide to tackle it ,,,,i'll do the pics. and post the results.

I bought a brand new one a while back for less than the parts to rebuild one. Yeah, I got a "deal" however, these compressors are really cheap.
I would NEVER buy something I could rebuild for less, however, at the time it was a no brainer.

If it's not working, and you are sure it's the compressor that's bad, I say take it apart.
It will either make sense, or it won't. Could be you just need a valve and a couple of seals.
I do have to admit however, I still have the compressor kit sitting in my garage for my first gen 4-runner (bought kit 4 years ago)
