Visits by rodents

Suggestions to keep out rodents from my engine compartment. They come in both my diesels and also in my Toyota sedan. Somehow, they manage to get into the cab of my dump truck...? I see the "by product" of their visit. I noticed yesterday they chewed on some of the wiring on the DS of the dump. Not good news.

Is there a chemical or something that make them not want to visit. What have you guys been doing?

Thanks

I set D-Con feeder trays where I found "evidence" when I had trouble last Fall. After a week, no more problems.
