Update on Upgrades...

Hey all, it's been a busy year so I figured I would post what I have been up to. I spent hours and hours in
resources like this one gathering information to make good decisions. Here is what I came up with.
1. First off I ordered up a set of bi-xenon HIDs. I do alot of my driving in the dark, so I figured it was a worth
while investment. Well it turned out to be a good move, the difference is literally night and day. The reflectors
in these trucks suck, and they help to fix that problem.
2. Next on the list was a FASS 150/150 and PDR towing twins.MMM.. fuel and air, yummy. I went with the towing set
as I was planning ahead for the big rubber, and wanted to be able to move a lot of air without surging or spoolup
problems, I think I hit the nail on the head here, as I still have way more cooling than I need, and I can keep the
stock CP3 fed, until that comes up for upgrade.
3. The next upgrade was unintentional. The tranny went bye bye and needed to be rebuilt. I had upgraded it before
but took this opportunity to toss all of the parts in that I hadn't done the first time. The only thing that wasn't touched
was the intermediate shafft and that was on recomendation from DTT. We dropped a DTT flexplate on the front, and
because of the coming lift, a Skyjacker indexing ring on the back. While the tranny was out we put a plate over the
rear frost plug to prevent future misery.
4. The next move was altitude. A Rock Krawler 8" lift, DSS, and 37" Pro Comp X-terrains achieved that. The lift was a
fair bit of work, but in the end, well worth the effort. I now have a machine that has some good clearance and
handles like a big car. The DSS and upgraded trackbar in the kit keep things running true. This one gets a lot of
attention around town. I have come out of a restaurant to find people stuffed under the truck to have a look.
5. The last addition was throwing the Smarty into my TST/ EZ stack. I was having problems getting any power before
losing rail pressure and thought I had an issue to address. Then Camotanker introduced me to the world of
programmers, he was running a similar electronics and mentioned that he wasn't able to make good power without a
programmer/ box stack with the 250hp SO. Boy was he right! Whatever was causing the rail pressure issues was pushed
aside once the programming came in, turning the truck into a beast, twisting a 492hp dyno run, backed by a 13.8 1/4 with
the big rubber, 3.73 gears and no tuning. The power is also a lot smoother now. The truck is now a dream to drive. Lots of
power on tap, and handles like a champ.

I hadn't gotten around to posting my mods on the go, so I figured I would throw a post together.More pics in my
gallery.

That looks like more than 8". You could stuff 38's under that thing.

Thanks guys. The truck does dwarf the 37's, I kind of regret having not gone bigger now. I think it is more like 10" as we spun down the adjusters on the coilovers for extra heght, but it is advertised as 8". I really don't think that I would need to do any trimming to fit 40's, may just limit articulation a bit, I'll probubly go that way next time. I am hoping to get some wheels on it for summer too, I think it will widen the track a bit and fatten the tires.
