Update On Rebuild And Running
Rip at sourceautomotive took on the rebuild, due to a dropped exh valve destroying #5 piston, on tear down discovered alot of needed TLC and replace, new mahle pistons new bearings, new reworked head, new htt 3 piece manifold, since it was apart put in hamilton big stick and springs replaced htt 62/14 with bd super b special. the truck runs great it is smooth quieter than before still breaking in the rings I have drove almost 200 miles back home the turbo I honestly dont feel lag that I thought going bigger with the turbo. I wasn't really hard on the truck on the way home but turbo with the cam comes alive around 1900rpm's. I love the cam, I have noticed the truck really has a solid climb from 1900 to 2500 where I kept it driving it home. untill I put some more break in and miles on I will keep you posted. driving the truck around with the TST and smarty off before it was a dog, just driving it around with everything off and just the cam and sticks it reminded me of driving the truck with the smarty on a mild SW. before when I did oil changes my oil would turn black after driving it in one day around town. after 200 mile trip home the oil looked like it was new. so this does explain why the other pistons needed replaced they were under min standards when the engine was pulled apart. now I know what it is like to have good compression. Rip at source once again thanks for the awesome service and work, thanks the Jkidd at Diesel auto power for the great help with the new turbo. you dont know how depressing it was for almost 2 months to have your DD truck gone but what a great feeling when you get it back and you know the truck was done right and running better than ever before.

I know exactly what it feels like, I had my DD down for over 6 months, took me 3 months to build the new engine, new rings, Hamilton cam, bearings, etc... another 3 months to get the cracked 53 out, the inside cleaned up and the new engine in and all buttoned up.

I'm going to give it 1 more chance, fix the next big thing that breaks, then sell my DD if the break down happens soon. It is fun to drive but this is the most problematic expensive to maintain vehicle I've ever owned (except for my 75 MGB where I replaced the spare tire with a tool box). Dodge should have been allowed to die for selling this crap. There is NO EXCUSE for the VP & steering problems.

I feel your pain here is mine went and is still going I have been fighting this for 10 months. Rebuilt engine, used transfer case, 2 new u joints, rebuilt rear diff, head gasket failed in water pass, then smoked the trany, now heading back due to trany issues.
