What turbo should I use?

I am ready to install gauges, a Smokey pin, a 366 spring, and learn to adjust and time the IP (allready got a straight pipe and opened up the air filter housing and installed a new filter) I have 2 things that I need help with at this point. how do I figure out what turbo, if any, do I need. Is the 2nd gen (HX35?) a good upgrade on my truck? Where can I find a good wright up on what systems in the IP adjust what conditions. I want more power to haul heavy loads through the montians.

Thanks,
Dave

You sound just like I did a year and a half ago, Dave. Mountains and all!

The way I did it was just analyze all the info I could absorb and do one mod at a time. I tried going in biggest bang for the buck precedence order, or at least what I perceived that to be from the info I found here.

I think it went something like this: 1) 366 spring 2) Intake 3) exhaust 4) turbine housing 5) Pump tweaks (one at a time!) 6) fuel system upgrades 7) another intake upgrade 8) compressor and another turbine housing upgrade 9) fuel pin 10) more intake mods ..and that's about where I'm at now, powerwise. $1,000 later.

Thanks Ace!!

I am supprised the fuel pin is so far down the list, hmmm if I understand correctly the F Pin will provide more fuel at medium boost, much like a star wheel adjustment. On the turbo do I just change out the cold side?
I think I am more interested in lots of air than quick throttle response. This will allow me to run a lot of fuel at 3/4 to full throttle with out too much egt.
My truck starts and runs so good that I hate to work the IP till I thoroughly understand how it works.

Your Turbo should be the same as mine. WH1C, this turbo is only different because I have a 12wg housing. These turbos are the same as a hx35 besides the fact that it has a clamp to hold the cold side on. HTT's stage 3 for the 35 and the WH1C/H1C push the same amount of air just the compressor wheels have to be different to match the style of housing. When I had a 1st gen I thought that a non/wg housing was best for me... NOT! A 14wg housing will spool quick with 300-360 rwhp, after you get from being to hot(12wg are just to restrictive after 300 hp) address your cold side with a HTT stage 3

I need to talk to these guys. Looks to me like this is the way to go. I expect to size my turbo to cool about 350 hp. Looks like this is the best way to do it. Thanks.

I saved the fuel pin for last because I wanted to order my mods so as to ensure I was never running into high EGTs. This truck is first and foremost my tow vehicle and primary transportation.

Not so surprisingly enough, I was seeing intake restrictions again by the time I got there, and hit 1250 under load - EMPTY. But I think it'll tow safely now, just haven't had the opportunity to check it in tow mode yet. I've probably squeezed about all I'll ever get out of the stock injectors at this point.
