Question what turbo for me?

I need to a recommendation on a turbo. Parts list in signature is current. At lower RPMS (taking off) it can black smoke pretty good, so my guess is I want a faster spooling turbo (smaller turbo), at least faster than stock. I also know that for higher end power I need to move more air (bigger turbo). What aftermarket turbo would give me faster spool over stock and more air? Fuel upgrades will come in the future (injectors, FASS, etc.) and I want a turbo that will be sufficient for a long time. Improving mileage is a factor. Good value (not necessarily cheapest, cheap is good but I want quality also) is important.

Garrett gt3788r stage 3 would be perfect for you right now. But if/when you decide to do larger injectors, the dynamic changes.

You want it to spool faster than stock and move more air? You're gonna have to sacrifice something just a little. For your mods, I would look at a 62/65-12 or 13ss, or something like a Super B.

That is why I recommended the GT... no sacrifice at his current power levels or a little beyond. Spools faster, moves more air...

According to Garrett website, 550hp. The more appropriate number is the air flow in lbs/min. For the stage 3 it is 70 lbs/min.

No, do the turbo first. The Smarty is already plenty enough fuel for the stocker.

i have pretty much the same setup as you and am very happy with my htt 62/71/13ss. it's not as fast to spool as the stocker but it sure is fun once it does light.
